Teltonika FMB140:
a tracker and a CAN reader in one housing
A tracker and a CAN reader in one housing. It reads on-board computer data (fuel consumption, mileage, engine speed) without an external adapter, provided the vehicle model is on the support list. Suitable for leased cars, taxis and light commercial vehicles (LCV).
Vehicle data without cutting into the tank
In the past, seeing fuel level and exact mileage meant buying a tracker and then a separate CAN adapter, or drilling the tank. That was slow and expensive.
The FMB140 has the CAN bus reading chip built in (the ALL-CAN300 functionality). It can be connected to a Chevrolet Cobalt, Gentra, Isuzu, Ford Transit or MAN and deliver digital data — but which parameters you get depends on the particular model, year and trim, and we check that against the support list before installation.
For vehicles under warranty (Chevrolet / Kia)
Owners of new fleets in Baku worry about losing the warranty when a GPS unit is fitted. With a contactless reader the FMB140 gets CAN data without cutting into the bus wiring.
-
No cutting into the wiring
We do not cut wires or drill the tank: the contactless reader sits on top of the twisted pair's insulation. We document the wiring so that it can be shown to the dealer; the dealer decides on the warranty under their own terms.
-
Digital accuracy
Fuel consumption, odometer and engine temperature come from the on-board electronics — if the vehicle model puts those parameters on the bus.
The problems the FMB140 solves
Fitting an ordinary tracker to a modern vehicle gives you little information. The FMB140 covers the blind spots:
Petrol monitoring
A fuel level sensor is rarely fitted to a car's tank. The FMB140 takes level and consumption from CAN — from the vehicle's own level sensor or the ECU's calculation. That is enough for average consumption; small amounts siphoned off are not visible in this data.
Odometer tampering
Drivers often use mileage correction devices. The FMB140 reports the mileage the vehicle puts on the bus, and it can be compared with the GPS track: a discrepancy is a reason to check the vehicle.
Engine overheating
In +45°C heat it matters to see the coolant temperature. If the model puts temperature on the bus, the dispatcher gets an overheating alert at the threshold you set.
Driving style
An ordinary tracker only sees speed. The FMB140 sees engine speed (RPM), and on some models the accelerator pedal position as well.
CAN bus data (what can we see?)
Level and consumption
Fuel level (as a percentage or in litres), total consumption for a trip, instantaneous consumption. Digital data without the interference of an analogue line; the accuracy of the level is set by the vehicle's own sensor.
Temp
Temperature sensors.
ID
Driver BLE tags.
Bluetooth 4.0
Talking to the driver through a Bluetooth headset, plus Teltonika wireless accessories; we check the list of supported sensors against the firmware.
Bluetooth LE: more than just GPS
Despite the built-in CAN, the tracker supports Bluetooth LE for wireless temperature and humidity sensors.
Why the FMB140
One unit
A tracker and a CAN reader in one housing instead of two devices.
Less wiring
Quicker to fit, less risk of a poor connection.
2500+ vehicles supported
Teltonika's database covers most of the models on the road in Azerbaijan. We check your particular vehicle against the list before installation.
Compact
Easy to hide, with internal antennas.
What the cost is made up of
The final figure depends on the type of vehicle, the set of sensors and the size of the fleet. We will prepare an exact quote for your case free of charge after a short audit — within one working day.
