Howen Hero MDVR:
video surveillance on 12 channels

A corporate-class on-board video recorder for buses and freight transport. The higher-end models in the Hero range record up to 12 cameras at once, analyse the footage with AI right on board and stream live to the control room over 4G. GPS.az is Howen’s exclusive partner in Azerbaijan.

Full video coverage of a vehicle — from the cabin to the blind spots

Hero MDVR is Howen’s flagship video monitoring platform, built for hard service: the vibration of quarry machinery, the 18-hour shifts of city buses, the heat of a Baku summer. The number of channels depends on the model in the range; on the higher-end models cameras can cover the cabin, the road, the doors, the loading areas and the blind spots all at the same time.

Footage is kept on a protected HDD/SSD in an anti-vibration mount and duplicated to an SD card. When something happens, the dispatcher opens the live picture over 4G — provided there is coverage on the route — instead of driving to the depot for a memory card. Every event is synchronised with the GPS track in Wialon.

AI analytics on board

Built-in DMS and ADAS algorithms analyse the driver’s behaviour and the road ahead on the recorder itself, with no separate server. Each function needs its own camera, and the set of AI functions depends on the model and the firmware.

  • DMS: watching the driver

A camera aimed at the driver recognises fatigue, closed eyes, a phone in the hand, smoking and eyes off the road. The voice warning sounds in the cab the moment it is recognised, without waiting for a connection to the server; the event and its footage reach the platform once there is 4G. Recognition quality depends on how the camera is mounted and on the lighting.

  • ADAS: watching the road

The front camera tracks the distance to the vehicle ahead, lane departure and collision risk — much in demand on the Baku–Ganja road. On roads without markings, lane warnings work only to a limited extent.

What transport is Hero MDVR built for?

A multi-channel architecture is needed wherever the one or two cameras of an all-in-one unit fall short:

City buses

Cameras on the cabin, the doors and the road. Handling passenger complaints, watching boarding and alighting and the conductor’s work.

Cash-in-transit and valuable cargo

Continuous recording of the cabin and the cargo compartment, live access for the security team over 4G, and a panic button that opens a live stream for the dispatcher.

Quarry and heavy machinery

The R-Watch and BSD radar options monitor the blind spots of tipper trucks and excavators, and warn the driver about people and machinery close to the vehicle.

Long-haul freight

Video evidence for accidents and disputes with cargo owners. How the recorder closes off a recording when the power is cut is something we check against the data sheet of the chosen model.

Price and connection

What the cost is made up of

Fitting by a mobile crew in Baku and the regions, connection to the Wialon platform and a check on site.
SIM and connectivity
A SIM card with a data allowance is part of the connection; international runs use roaming tariffs.
Subscription
A monthly monitoring fee: the platform, history storage, reports and technical support. Discounts from ten assets.

The final figure depends on the type of vehicle, the set of sensors and the size of the fleet. We will prepare an exact quote for your case free of charge after a short audit — within one working day.
